Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Evan Williams, the second largest selling brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the U.S., is named for Kentucky's first distiller of 1783. As the flagship brand of Heaven Hill's Bourbon portfolio, Evan Williams' extra aging gives it a richer, smoother Bourbon taste than the competition. It was give a 90-rating by Wine Enthusiast who commented that Evan Williams has, "a deep vanilla nose...and the palate shows notes of oak, vanilla and dark berries." Awards
"Nose: Light and minty, some vanilla. Mouth: This whiskey has grown up well. The body is medium to light, and the palate bears some leather, tobacco, vanilla and hints of caramel. The finish is medium to long, and oh, so warm and soothing. Overall: Here's an "around the house" bottling that's a lot more sophisticated than expected. Drink it on ice, with a splash of water or club soda, or make above-average cocktails and mixed drinks with this bourbon." Gary and Mardee Haidin Regan Co-authors, The Book of Bourbon
"Nose: Slightly sharp and green with a touch of menthol. Taste: A very sweet start with soft brown sugars and caramel. As the middle is reached there is a hint of spice and maltiness. Finish: A gentle finale to a light, easy-going whiskey. Limited vanilla and a little oak sap add extra weight but the small grains, especially the malt, do hang on to the finish. Comments: An easy number, this. A fresh, light weight throughout makes this one a gentle, sweet, untaxing journey with not a bump along the way." Jim Murray Classic Bourbon, Tennessee & Rye Whiskey
"This medium-amber Bourbon has a deep vanilla nose with hints of dark berries and mint. The body is medium, leaning towards heavy, and the palate shows notes of oak, leather, vanilla, and as in the nose, some dark berries come into play here. The finish is medium. Best Buy. Rating 90."
