Water :	Rise from a hillside spring and flows over peat. It's however less peaty water than some used by other stills. Not Islay - (Fastlandet)

Shaw : Tasting notes : A subtle malt, and less medicinal in its flavour than other Islay whiskies, Bruichladdich is a lightish, dry, fresh-tasting whisky. Taste rating = 3 Built in 1881, Bruichladdich is Scotland's most westerly distillery. Its water comes from an inland reservoir and, unlike the other distilleries, is not drawn from springs which have flowed over peaty land; this has been suggested as a reason why its peaty flavour is less intense than other Islay malts. Bruichladdich was owned by Invergordon Distillers from 1972 until 1993, but since the company's acquision that year by Whyte & Mackay, it has been mothballed along with two of the group's other distilleries, Tamnavulin and Tullibardine. (and Port Charlotte) - Source www.bbr.com : Bruichladdich Distillery, Islay Bruichladdich is found on the edge of Loch Indaal in Islay and was built in 1881 by Barnet Harvey. The distillery stayed in the Harvey Family until 1936 and was then involved in several corporate merger's that lasted thirty years, however in the mid 90's it was found to be `surplus to requirements' and was closed down in 1995. In 2000 the silent distillery was purchased by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, Gordon Wright and Jim McEwan and is once again a proud, independent Scottish company. Bruichladdich single malt whisky is non chill-filtered to enhance the depth of flavours, bottled with Islay Spring water and is non peated.
