Remark : | They recieved a Silver medal / award in 1997 from IWSC, best malt over 21 years old (The vintage 1972 bottling.) From Collins Pocket Refence 'Whisky': The Glen Rothes Distillery was built in 1878 for William Grant & Sons with the backing of a group of local buisnessmen, including the provost of Rothes. It was bought in 1887 by the Islay distillery company, owners of Bunnahabhain, and then became part of the Highland Distilleries company. They still own the distillery today. Glen Rothes bas been expanded twice in the last thrity years. The Glen Rothes single malt is produced and distributed by Berry Brothers & Rudd, the owner of Cutty Sark whisky, in which Glen Rothes also features. |
